According to the National Pest Technicians Association, in the Greater London area there has been a 38% increase in the number of enquiries to stamp out infestations from rats.
The blame is on modern lifestyles which are providing way too much food for rodents to feast on. And with so many homes now being built in areas once occupied by businesses, there has been a rise in the number of construction companies using the services of pest control businesses at a much earlier stage.
“It’s now automatic for a construction site manager in London to appoint a pest control company before work on the site has commenced,” says the Dyno-Pest Business Development Manager. “Whereas in the past, problems from mice and rats would occur once the ground had been disturbed, the problem now exists above ground. Building works simply exacerbate the pest problem. And the increased construction works associated with the Olympics has led to a record breaking number of calls for our services in the last few months.” Dyno-Pest provides pest control and pest prevention services to construction clients that include Laing O’Rourke, Mansells, Sir Robert McAlpine, Wates, Willmott Dixon and Skanska.
