From installing bird netting and spikes to utilising visual and sound devices, bird control services aim to mitigate the negative impacts of pest birds. Problems Pest Birds Can Cause

Pest birds, while often overlooked, can pose significant risks to both health and property.

  • Health Hazards: Pest birds, such as pigeons and seagulls, can carry over 60 known diseases, including Salmonellosis, Histoplasmosis, and E. coli. These diseases can spread to humans directly through contact with the birds, feathers, or droppings.
  • Property Damage: Bird droppings are acidic and can erode building materials, leading to costly repairs. Nesting materials can also block drains and guttering, leading to water damage. Furthermore, in commercial settings, bird infestations can lead to reputational damage, impacting business operations.
  • Noise Pollution: Certain pest birds, such as seagulls, are known for their loud, disruptive noise, which can lead to disturbance and reduce quality of life, especially in residential areas.
  • Agricultural Damage: In farming areas, large flocks of pest birds like crows, pigeons, and sparrows can wreak havoc on crops. These birds can consume, damage, or contaminate a significant portion of the harvest, leading to substantial agricultural losses. Their droppings can also degrade the quality of stored grains and feed, threatening livestock health. Furthermore, the nesting behaviours of these birds often interfere with farming machinery and operations, adding to the challenges farmers face.

Proven Bird Control Treatments

Early detection is the answer. This is where Dyno-Pest can help – we have over 45 years of experience treating pest birds in Greater London.

If you have any concerns about pest birds or want to know that your buildings are adequately protected, please get in touch with us to arrange a thorough on-site free survey. This will be carried out by one of our experienced Dyno-Pest surveyors. His recommendations may include one or more of the following proven treatments:

  • Bird spikes and sprung wire systems. These methods are effective in deterring Pigeons and larger birds. They are commonly used on parapet walls, ledges, roof lines, windowsills, signage and other narrow surfaces that birds land on.
  • Bird netting. This excludes birds from open areas and protects equipment such as air conditioning units. To be a successful deterrent, it’s crucial that bird netting is professionally installed because Birds take advantage of a poorly hung net.
  • Electrified shock track systems. Another ledge product that’s an alternative to bird spikes and that’s effective in deterring all species of Birds.
  • Birds of prey. Roosting Birds will often come back to the same area even after an intensive clean. A Bird of prey released at random intervals, combined with other treatments, will ensure that your premises remain Bird-free.
