Pest control for Ants in London

Effective London pest control for Ants

There are many different species of ants ranging from the common black ant we are used to seeing in the UK through to Pharaohs ants which are most commonly found in hospitals and are very difficult although not impossible to treat.

The common black ant is often a problem for commercial kitchens in the summer that can offer them a plentiful supply of sweet substances.

One thing is certain, if your organisation or your business is being affected by ants, you should speak to a qualified and accredited Dyno-Pest surveyor. This is because ants occupy any suitable crevice and so are often deep within the foundations, wall cavities and the service ducting of your building. It’s near impossible for you to reach them and professional expertise and treatment is needed to treat and subsequently manage them.

Because Pharaoh ants require a minimum temperature of 18°C to breed, they inhabit boiler rooms and central heating pipe work. This means that buildings which have large boilers and hot water pipes such as hospitals, prisons, factories and tower blocks are especially susceptible to an infestation from Pharaoh ants. Although ants do not carry any specific diseases, they are excellent disease vectors and can wreak havoc in other ways. For example if you store foodstuffs, they can penetrate even the most robust packaging and so contaminate your stock. Pharaoh ants are usually controlled by juvenile growth hormone analogues which prevent the larvae from developing and, sterilise the winged males and queens.

Whilst it is impossible to guarantee that ants will never infest your premises again, Dyno-Pest’s ‘Power of 3’ protection programme can greatly reduce the risk:

  1. Ant risk assessment. Dyno-Pest surveyors will undertake a thorough assessment of your premises identifying risk hot spots that could lead to an infestation.  There is no charge for this.
  2. Dyno-Pest technicians will recommend a preventative and management treatment regime which will include scheduled inspection visits.
  3. Training for your teams.  Dyno-Pest technicians can train your team in how to identify the earliest signs of activity and how they can play their part by adjusting their habits.

Contact Dyno-Pest today if your business is being affected by ants and you want to find out more about Dyno-Pest’s approach to proactive pest management.
