Fantastic Mr Fox 'Fairy Tale Myth' Says Dyno-Pest MD

The cute and cuddly image of the fox has been shattered by the news of the severe mauling of the twins in Hackney by an urban fox gaining entry through the patio doors of their home.

Ralph Izod, Dyno-Pest MD says, "Urban foxes are omnivores with a strong territorial sense. Once they have found a garden to inhabit, it's unlikely they will move elsewhere. Nearly a third of what they eat is scavenged from our rubbish, but with the new wheelie bins proving harder to topple, they're now targeting pets- hens, cats, rabbits, even small dogs. In the last few months we've seen a dramatic rise in the number of people calling us because the fox in their garden is becoming a menace." Izod also points out that foxes spread disease in many unpleasant and unforeseen ways.

"Foxes will urinate and defecate in a child's sandpit, not to mention ornamental flower pots, the vegetable beds compost heap, even the bird bath. Foxes transmit Toxascaris, symptoms of which include wheezing, headaches, stomach upsets, even blindness in extreme cases. They also spread sarcoptic mange causing skin infections in dogs and cats. People don't realise that their children and pets are at risk because they're treating the fox in their garden like a domestic pet. Foxes can only be eradicated by professionals - through shooting or humane traps. There are now 30,000 foxes in London which is a worrying statistic. Householders must not let sentiment override reason." Concludes Izod.
