May 11, 2010 Mice Scrapping over keyboards You may have read about the new 'mice threat' reported in the Daily Mail (May12,2010) and the London Evening Standard (May 11, 2010). An alarming number of office workers are at risk from a mouse related problem - and this time it's not repetitive strain injury. To quote the Mail: "Food crumbs left by office workers eating at their desks could pose a serious threat to health, experts say. The scraps attract mice that run along the keyboards to scavenge food at night. And unfortunately they are leaving their own scraps - mouse droppings - which can spread all sorts of diseases."
Ralph Izod, Managing Director Dyno-Pest says, "Office workers are not to blame for this problem, although they are worsening the situation through inadvertently providing a food source for the mice. The crux of the problem is that mice are able to gain access to office buildings at many unprotected points. Because there is obviously no active programme of pest prevention and control in place, they can breed intensively and cause untold damage. I would urge any facilities manager or property managing agent currently on the receiving end of complaints from workers about mice or other pests to contact us and arrange a thorough survey. This will undoubtedly get to the root of the problem and we don't make a charge for it." |
