Tripadvisor names and shames top 10 dirtiest hotels in the UK in 2010

Based on Tripadvisor traveller reviews, the website has revealed the 10 dirtiest hotels in the UK.

Eight are based in the London area demonstrating that there is room for improvement in the capital.  However, the number one offending hotel, the Grosvenor Hotel in Blackpool which scooped the uncoveted award for being the dirtiest hotel in the UK, had "windows so filthy that the view of Blackpool Tower was completely obscured." It also had a list of defects so long that it would be laughable, was the matter not so serious.

Keith Hurdle, senior surveyor at Dyno-Pest said "whilst I can't comment on whether any of these hotels have problems with pests, what you usually find is that where there's dirt and grime in a hotel plus a sloppy attitude towards cleaning and hygiene, there are invariably pests - most commonly mice and cockroaches.  By contrast, we work very closely with our hotel clients, always giving advice and feedback which ensures that they maintain clean and pest free environments for their guests.”
